Buy Morel Mushrooms Spores

Morel Mushrooms for sale. Morchella, the true morels, is a genus of edible sac fungi closely related to anatomically simpler cup fungi in the order Pezizales (division Ascomycota). These distinctive fungi have a honeycomb appearance due to the network of ridges with pits composing their caps. Morels are prized by gourmet cooks, particularly in French cuisine. Due to difficulties in cultivation, commercial harvesting of wild morels has become a multimillion-dollar industry in the temperate Northern Hemisphere, in particular North America, Turkey, China, the Himalayas, India, and Pakistan and Kashmir where these highly prized fungi are found in abundance. The variety of morels we sell is best suited for outdoor cultivation and is a high yielding strain. The fall day we found these there was thousands of morel mushrooms fruiting in a 1/4 mile area. They were fruiting among partially burnt spruce and fir trees. Spruce and fir make an excellent choice of wood chips for a morel habitat. Instead of putting that Christmas tree in the trash, consider chopping it up and growing morels on the wood chips.

In addition, A suggestion for growing morels is putting fresh wood ash in the substrate as well. Morel spores germinate quickly and their mycelia spreads fast. The mycelium is brown and can easily be mistake for contamination. See our photo of morel mycelium producing sclerotia on an agar plate. Morels are in a small group of mushroom fungi that produce an underground structure called a sclerotium.

Furthermore, The sclerotia is a nutrient storage and resting stage that allow the mycelia  to survive unfavorable weather and fires. They can be completely dry then upon rehydration they swell up and either form a new mycelia network or fruit mushrooms to drop spores and continue the life cycle. Morels will naturally product sclerotia on many habitats such as straw, peat moss and sand, as they tend to be soil dwellers. One way to ensure an outdoor patch is produce the sclerotia then plant that among your habitat. Making a spore slurry from morel spores, unchlorinater water and molasses then spreading that around a wood chip patch is another sure way to get mushrooms in your yard. Here is a video of an urban family from Kansas easily producing an abundance of morels on their land using a simple spore slurry. The kids in this video are so cute, and you can see what a fun family project this is.

This was a gift so I can’t give a review. I know they received them and planted them. Will let you know in 6 months if there are any mushrooms.

  2. rosieposie

First off, what a name…2funguys, who wouldn’t want to buy from them. the dowels had a lot of shiitake spores on them, i only wish it would have come with some instructions.
had to go on line and see how others were planting them. I drilled holes in oak logs and planted them, good thing i knew oak trees have antifungul component and must leave 2 -3 weeks b 4 putting in dowels or it will kill the fungus.

  3. Kimberly Anne.

I followed all the directions provided and nothing ever grew. It’s a shame because I was so excited and the process of inoculating the logs was actually pretty fun.

  4. Lance

The products I received were exactly what the Amazom listing advertized. The package came with a sealed bag containing 100 spawn-coated dowels ready for tapping into the mushroom log. Also in the package was a lump of clear wax for sealing the dowels. The wax melted easily, and I had no trouble applying it to the dowels. Inside the package were clear, concise instructions for getting started. I expect to harvest a bounty of shiitake mushrooms in a few months. Given the retail price of those mushrooms, this purchase was definitely worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Excellent product and awesome follow-up, highly recommended.

  6. Antonia Lisa Emmons

Came quickly and exactly as ordered. Thanks. Never grew mushrooms before, but the instructions were very easy to follow and I can’t wait to see them start to grow.

  7. Patricia Foster

I ordered from you guys because I am easily persuaded by words. I love to take on a craft and I love when everything is included. Plugs were fine and clearly viable. Wax was wax and I finally go to use my rice cooker. Instructions included were perfect BUT it called for a dauber to apply the melted wax: NO DAUBER. That was the stressful part of the entire operation. I think for an extra $10 for the wax you should have included the dauber.

Can’t really say how great everything was but I will get back to you in 9 months or so when I hope shitakes pop up all over my logs.. I will probably be back for more.

Great product! I bought 3 of these to put on my land that I have. They come as basically a little brick sized clump of dirt. I followed the instructions and let them rest in my refrigerator for about a week before planting. I found two spots near where the water runs on my land and that were a little different from each other and tilled the soil up. sprinkled 1 and a half of the blocks in each spot. After sprinkling them in the fresh tilled dirt I took a hoe and moved the dirt around to mix it in. After that I covered the soil in a layer of cow manure and compost that I bought at lowes. Then on top of that I bagged my lawn when mowing and threw a layer of grass clippings on top. Came back a week later after a rain storm and there was one baby morel that had already popped! I couldn’t believe it. This is the end of September in Missouri and I had a morel! The description said it could take up to two years to see morels so I am beyond impressed. I look forward to check back soon in hopes of more!

I originally purchased this kit two years ago. This spring I had morels in my garden beds and a few outside of them in the wood chips. Now seeing results, I purchased another batch. The first time I followed the instructions. This time I am making a slury to see how that works.

  10. Daryl Peterson

I won’t know if they will grow or not for a while, but the seller is a very responsive person. I had an issue with USPS losing a package and I contacted the seller . the seller quickly sent a new package. Thank you

  11. Peter M.

Spawn plugs looked good, you could tell they contained active viable spawn. The included wax to cover the holes was a nice addition. Put them in some oak logs from a tree that was cut down 3 weeks earlier. Now just wait a year and see.

Update…about a year later and MUSHROOMS! I’m eating a shiitake and egg sandwich as I write this review and it tastes like success!!

Not only did the Two Fungi’s process my order effective ly, plugs arrived well packaged w/excellent instructions. The plugs r in,, wax applied. The fellas do thier best to provide you with a positive experience that will satisfy your mushroom farming need. I recommend them & will continue to be a customer. All’s good 😎

  13. darryl crosby

Good flavored mushrooms . All plugs were in good shape. Put in this spring and few fruited by the fall. Shitake take longer than oysters to fruit so I’m sure bu next spring I’ll have a good flush. I’ve got some logs 4yrs old still going strong .
Cant expect these types to grow in 6months. At least the following year the fruiting should take off. By having a few fruit in 6months I know the plugs are good.

  14. KS

They were obviously viable! I have a bad back so had to work on this 15 min at a time for a week. Multiple dowls pinned (i think thats the name) where it was forming precursors to fruit in the bag by end of week. I couldnt get them to fit in the hole size stated but next size up worked. Not enough wax provided, i had to order more. Took 3 two foot logs fresh cut from my oak trees. Crossed fingers they continue to grow!

  15. Sarah

Great product, really easy to use! I would recommend buying extra wax if this is your first time, but other than that I have no complaints!

  16. Dpar

Ok, plugs and wax arrived fine, what’s to rate? My concern was if my flowering cherry logs would sub for preffered oak, fun guys said yes, but I have to wait 3 months for fruiting bodies to show up……or NOT. I’ll rate again to 5 or 1 star depending on the outcome.

  17. Cal

Product came quickly and as advertised. I live in the Pacific Northwest rain forest and after reading the instructions, decided to not bother with the wax as it is intended to prevent drying out of the plug. Fat chance of that, my logs won’t need watering until late July.

  18. brian2nite

Received in good condition, installed plugs and waxed over on two 6″ x 42″ oak logs. Keeping in garage over winter and waiting for spring to place outside. We’ll see what happens next year.

  19. Shirly spikes

We just filled 3 different logs with the spawns.
Great quality! We opened the bag and got this woody earthy scent.
Still don’t know if they’ll grow, hopefully 🙂
The wax was unnecessary, we could’ve used our own wax. I thought it’s a special type of wax but it turns out we could use any type of wax

  20. cooper f

Put the plugs in the logs in the spring, and kind of forgot about them. I looked at them one day at the end of October I had mushrooms not all of them came out but I wasn’t expecting anything until next spring happy enough with them I ordered more.

  21. Killaani ❤’z Tofu 😋

Happy that it came in. The wax is seriously small, you will need to order extra or elsewhere i say. Perhaps order the plugs separately & wax elsewhere. Thankfully, I had some leftover bees wax from my soap making at the time.
