When most people think of hallucinogenic mushrooms, the first thing that comes to mind is psilocybin. However, there are other types of mushrooms that can produce psychoactive effects. One such mushroom is Pluteus glaucus. Let’s take a closer look at this rare mushroom.
Pluteus Glaucus: Basic Information
Pluteus glaucus is a member of the genus Pluteus, which contains around 300 species of mushrooms. This particular mushroom is relatively rare and not as widely distributed as other mushrooms from the genus.
Pluteus Glaucus: Appearance
Pluteus glaucus are a type of psilocybin mushroom from the Pluteaceae family and Pluteus genus. They are small, with a cap that is usually whitish, gray or dark in color. The gills underneath the caps are white or brown, crowded and thin, and the stems are whitish. The cap is flat in shape and the gills are free from the stipe. P. glaucus is one of the several species from the Pluteus genus that contains psychoactive compounds.
Pluteus Glaucus: Distribution and Habitat
These shrooms can be found growing in woodlands, grasslands, and meadows. They can be spotted growing on decaying wood or plants, especially on old stumps and logs. Because they love humid environments, you’re more likely to find them after it has rained.
Pluteus Glaucus: Psychedelic Compounds
These mushrooms contain high levels of psilocybin and psilocin, which are the main compounds responsible for their psychedelic effects. Psilocybin is converted into psilocin in the body, and it is this compound that binds to serotonin receptors in the brain and produces the psychedelic effects.
Pluteus Glaucus: Potency
The amount of psilocybin in Pluteus glaucus is about 0.28% and the amount of psilocin is about 0.12%, making it a relatively strong psychedelic mushroom, although not as strong as some other species, such as Psilocybe azurescens.
Pluteus Glaucus: Effects
The effects of Pluteus glaucus are similar to those of other psilocybin mushrooms. The main effects are visual and auditory hallucinations, euphoria, altered perception of time, and enhanced spiritual experiences. These effects typically last for 4-6 hours, depending on the dosage and other factors.
Pluteus Glaucus: Risks
Due to the fact that Pluteus glaucus have psychoactive effects when consumed, they should not be taken lightly. They can cause anxiety, panic attacks, and paranoia. In some cases, they can also trigger underlying mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia. If you have any history of mental illness, it is best to avoid these mushrooms all together.
